I have acutally been planning a system where you upload a list of proxies you want checked, then every six hours every proxy is checked and people are emailed the results.

As far as allowing fast list leeching, I advise you to take a closer look at the sites where you are leeching the lists from. Leech a list, scan it, then compare the working results to the list on the main page. There is a very high chance that if the Proxy is working that it is on my site, if not, it will be there as soon as my site finishes the update it is doing at the time.

The other issue is that it is quite unfair to other sites for me to allow abusive ammounts of leeching. However, it wouldnt be hard to cross check every leech request with my own database and give details on the Proxy. Infact it would probably be an eye openner for alot of people to see exactly how many bad Proxies are on most sites.

That is quite a good suggestion, I am not sure if it is that easy to set that up in PHPBB, so let me have a look at what I can do.

but if the ultimate goal is to move to a vbulletin board, then it's probably not worth the effort/risk. VB licenses aren't cheap and while it probably is the best forum type out there, I personally wouldn't spend the money.. not to mention that doing conversions from phpbb might turn out to have headaches of unknown proportions.

well you have a good thing going on these forums ..i will admit that but another good idea would be to set up an irc network were the users can go to discuss various things ...perhaps a flashclient set up on this site ..
i do happen to own a network whith about 3 servers on it services are included(unreal3.2.4 and anope services(also uncludes full ip masking)) if your interrested we can talk more about this and if you already have a network set up then perhaps a link?
my friends and i are the only two admin there and both can offer a great deal of help in various diff things aswell as alot of the users in these forums

YOu should have a category dedicated to just a list of proxy thats all, you delete anything else people put on there they just put the website address.

Hi, I have been using your proxies now for the last few weeks and have only one concern
I have been using only USA IP address but can you tell me why all the proxies are really I have discovered from india????? your UK proxies dont work either as they too say from outside UK some have said india??

Nickf - Be more specific as to twhich proxies exactly you are talking about here. List them!!!. Who or what claims they are all from India? Are you sure you know what you are talking about? What is telling you that some UK proxies are actually in India? Again I ask, do you know what you are talking about?

Sounds to ,me like whatever software you are using to testing/analyze proxies needs to have its GeoIP Country database updated.
