Default Charon Guide

Is it possible that someone maybe can write a tutorial about Charon with optimum settings for normal usage?

With version 6, I am having a tricky time configuring it to run smooth, and I feel that I haven't configured something right to provide good results.

So if someone is kind enough to just run through how their Charon is configured for day to day anonymous checks on proxies I would very much apriciate it.

Have you been to Charon's homepage?
Code:
http://www.project2025.com/charon.php
He has 1 picture of his setup (with all the menu's)

Also, if you scan down to the end of the page, there is a pdf walkthrough courtesy of Karsten Keese.

If your still having problems, try to be specific if you can. You might wanna also look for current fast proxy judges.

* i recommend using AZenv proxy judges *

Thanks for the reply.

I did check those out before posting, but I was just more curious about configuration tips and different setups users have around here.

When you said earlier that Charon sometimes wasn't running smoothly, what exactly do you mean?

The main three variables i can think off to make charon not run smooth are you changed your (threads/timeout) in "connect options" too high or low. Your using a proxyjudge that isn't fast and consistant, or the proxies you are testing are filled with "connection timed out". If you hit a batch of proxies that "time out" Charon will slow down untill it passes those proxies.

So, if you can be more specific i can try to give a better answer.

Are you testing the proxies through a site?

What I meant by not running smoothly is that Charon gives me a lot of proxies with a score of 0.

Now I don't know if that is down to Charon not being configured correctly of the judges that I am using (php and cgi).

Okay, well can you tell me what do they usually say (on the right side of the 0 score) where it tells you the status.

How many proxies do you load and test, and are you testing the proxies from this board or from public lists on the internet elsewhere or did you scan them yourself?

Kinda do a test run, and give me as much stats as possible. Maybee you expectations are too high, or maybee there is a problem.

So if you can do this, that would be helpful.
Maybee someone else can throw you some tips.

It's important that you use as many judges as possible and check them regularly.

Totally wrong! Use the most reliable "azenv" judge you can find ... one only for the best and most accurate results! There is never a good reason to use more than one judge at a time to test a list.

A zero (0) score is given to a working proxy that is transparent (non-anonymous). If you'll notice, there is also a "NO" in the Anon column.
