Proxy Judge - a script, (either php, cgi or perl), that echos browser header strings so testing software can determine the status of a proxy.
Ping - an old admininstrative tool used to test whether a server is alive and if so, how fast its response time is to a typical packet of data.
Before testing any proxy list, test your judges and choose one with the lowest ping. Also there is talk around that a php judge will server this purpose better but for now lets just try using the quickest judge in your list.
