Default Food for thought...

Here's something I find very comical about most people who post proxy lists. If they've been around awhile, they will filter all (or most) multiple gateway proxies from there lists.

Most of us know why this is done, but for those that don't ... multiple gateway proxies are generally removed from lists if the plan is to use said proxies to hammer (attempt to crack) a porn site. Why? Because multiple gateway proxies which lead back to the same main proxy server will result in the site under attack seeing only one proxy address (that of the main server) and will block said proxy normally after three (3) attempts.

However (here comes the funny part), most of these same posters will leave scores of same IP Address proxies in their lists because they have different port numbers. They simply don't understand that a website sees the IP Address and therefore blocks it (regardless of port number) just as quickly as it does multiple gateways. From this standpoint, they are one and the same.

Typical example of multiple gateway proxies:

123.45.78.125:80 >
123.45.78.126:80 >>
123.45.78.127:80 >>>>>> website sees 123.45.78.130 (main server)
123.45.78.145:80 >>
123.45.78.148:80 >

Again, the main server is the only address seen by a website regardless of which proxy in the list was used.

Typical examples of IP Addresses (proxies) with multiple port numbers:

61.143.61.78:11171 >>>>> website sees 61.143.61.78

61.166.57.232:11171 >>>>> website sees 61.166.57.232

Before anyone gets the wrong idea, my point IS that there is truly no need to filter any working proxy from any list except based on board rules, policies and classifications (elite (high anonymous), anonymous, transparent, Planetlab/CoDeeN, etc.). Filtering (all filtering) should be on an individual preference basis and the responsibility of the intended user. People have different needs for proxies of all kinds. Some people desire only certain ports, some people desire only certain Countries, some people actually desire Planetlab/CoDeeN proxies.
