This is the follow up to the proxy filtering program Calamity. It provides a fully customisable way of filtering out unwanted proxies via control files, a proxy tester to check anonymity - and a fully functional search engine crawler to find lists of posted proxies. Included within the kit is a php checker which can be uploaded to your own webspace to spread the processor load and bandwidth of the actual testing. This is fully integrated into Charon where it will simply send your pages lists of proxies and harvest the results.
Complete re-write of internal network functions.
IP scanner function implemented (ability to scan IP ranges for proxies).
New option incorporated to spread the traffic load over multiple external judges.
New Leeching engine (selectable pages for leeching etc.)
Automatic save / recovery - in the event of crashes charon will automatically recover.
External php checker support.

Blacklist filter check option (using opm.blitzed.org) Other changes:Google / search engine scanning functions completely re-written.
Search engine URL filter keywords moved into a customisable .ini file.
Support for multiple local IPs (enter them manually seperated by the ; character).
Option from the Save menu to output the results in a report according to the host country.
Import functions strengthened to cope with some dodgy data.
New and improved judge tester / selection screen.
Choice now given whether to save the proxy list on closing.
Traffic limit introduced to catch proxies which spew false data.
Few other minor tweaks.

Thank you for the link, it states that it can find proxies too, but I don't see any option to start scanning/searching? Is there a tutorial provided for using this?

Oh for pete sake, did you bother to go to the author's site (first link shown above) and look around? If not, some reason you didn't get my hint about feeling free to look around in sections on this site that might be appropriate for answering that question ... like 'Proxy Tutorials'?

But, Charon is not very good at scanning/leeching proxies. You would be better served using a program like FPL (Forum Proxy Leecher) and/or Proxyfire for that purpose. If you ask how to find them I'm going to ban you.

Lorissa, thank you for your response. I'd already been to the authors site but didn't feel that there was much help on there. I'd already been to that part of the forum but couln't find anything useful (apart from a download link).

Neither of the programs you just mentioned are free to use, are there no alternatives?

There is plenty of information available on Charon's site, all of which should be very useful to you because it is abundantly clear your learning and observation skills are totally lacking.

As you scroll down the page, click on each "here" and then read everything provided about the program (even if it is for an older version). You could also consult our Proxy Tutorials section and read everything you can find about Charon.

Both of those programs (FPL and Proxyfire) have free versions ... are you completely blind?

Quite clearly, I am blind as I missed all of the above.

I must be pretty ignorant too to be able to put up with your constant stream of insults.
