Hi all,

there is a option for Socks4 or Socks5 proxy in WinMX but it doesnt work for me, so i dont know what options i have to activate else :-(

Anyone runs WinMX with proxys and could please explain me what proxy and what options?

From memory you just need a decent Socks Proxy to get it working. You shouldnt require anything particularly special so I dont see why it wouldnt work for you.

thanks a lot for you fast reply. So ive searched out a Socks4 Proxy and put it into WinMX (ive checked the proxy with ping and got a fast reply) but i cant connect with it... always timed out.

I have the following Options:
Maybe you can tell me what i have to do to use WinMX with filesharing over a proxy ? Do i need Socks4 or Socks5 and what ports or options here?

It would be really very nice if you could help me

Socks4 should be sufficient, a Socks5 will also work, however you MUST verify it first, a ping is not enough. Try putting it in your browser and seeing if it works.

The options would be as follows:

Outgoing TCP Connections:

Use Socks4 or Socks5 depending on the Proxy you choose.

Incoming TCP Connections:

Unable to accept incoming TCP connections.

IN/OUT UDP Packets:

unable to send or recieve UDP datagrams on any port.

Host name Resolution:

Use operating system to resolve host names.
