Hi, I'm new here but would appreciate some help with a problem I am having with using voip....my ISP is blocking/delaying the UDP ports where the voice data is sent out on and I'm trying to find a way round the problem. I see there are lists of public proxies, would I be able to use one of those and how do I instruct the proxy on what port I need it to relay to. Please keep it basic as I'm still learning. In that situation you would have to use a Socks5 Proxy. The program you use for VOIP would also have to support it otherwise you probably wont have much luck since there arent too many apps around to redirect UDP. What program are you using?

Thankyou for your reply, my main service is with Packet8 who provides a DTA so that will be out of the question. I also use Skype and FWD which are software based using a mic and headset and I also have a ham radio program called Echolink which also is being affected and that runs on ports 5198/5199 and my outgoing audio is garbled, but if I switch to a proxy server of that network on 8100 my audio is perfect.(my ISP overlooked that one) So what I am trying to do is get Skype or Fwd to work. Ok, when the first solution I can offer is getting yourself a VPN service, it would allow you to completely bypass your ISP, but can become expensive if used alot.

Skype however is nice enough to use your settings in Internet Explorer. So if you set it to use a HTTP, HTTPS, SSL, or Socks5 Proxy, Skype should automatically pick this up and start using it.

OK, thankyou for your comments, i've already made some enquires about a VPN and am waiting for some replies. I will try to get Skype running as you suggest, it's become a challenge to spite the ISP. I'll get back later with the results...thanks again. exe2.
