Default Dont know if they are basic questions or not.

Hey Well im a new member of the board and i have a couple of questions would appreciate any support from the members of DCS can give . Im going to school and on spare time i just go sites like Myspace.com yeah i know lol ^^ because im under a school server and they blocked it and other sites like email eg: Gmail.com and Hotmail.com and they wont let me in.

Ok. First off.

I use AATools and Charon

Ok heres my question
-I scann proxys and everything and i seem to get alot of planetlab proxys is there anyway i can filter that so when i scan they wont show up?

-I was wondering if theres any settings i can put it at to get a good fast proxy dont have to be anonymous but at least it can take me to desired locations at a good speed *also* that it dont block anysite and can log in any way i can find those? and how will i know how to identify them

-Ok when scanning what is recommended i put it at 10 threads and 1sec timeout since i figured that lesser the timeout the faster the proxy can respond

-So basically my questions are , Good Settings to get good fast proxys that dont block any sites that i can use to log in to email and myspace, Any good proxy judge i can use for this.

thank you for your time all help welcomed

Hi there, and nice to have you here. Firstly, in your situation I highly recommend you ignore Anonymous lists, Transparent are more than necessary and will be faster in almost all situations.

Planetlab Proxies are irritating, but not really that bad. To remove them simply find one, and then blacklist its class C address. To do this go to the following files:

"Charon\filterfiles"

Then open up gov&military.ini and add a line such as the following where the first two numbers are the first three numbers are the same as the Planetlab Proxy:

192.168.1.[0-255]

Then just make sure Charon is set to use that filter and you should be fine.

Getting fast Proxies is a case of a low responsne time as you suggested, although 1 sec may be a little low. 10 threads is fine, but you may have to go for 2 sec to find many results.

To make sure your Proxies are useful, there is also a keyword check in Charon. By default Charon only checks this with Anonymous Proxies so you will have to unset that option and choose 'Test against site' aswell. Basically you enter the urls you want to get to, and a keyword for them which is unique to the site. A couple of examples are below:

Site:
http://www.myspace.com/
Keywords:
Reviewd by TRUSTe

Site:
https://www.google.com/accounts/Serv...=true&rm=false
Keywords:
Program Policies

Site:
http://login.passport.net/uilogin.srf?lc=3081&id=2
Keywords:
Microsoft Passport Network symbol

If setup properly, you can test all the sites you like with any Proxy you like.

Really good explanations im going to try filtering them now ok i was wondering when i read ur reply

* how exactly did you get those keywords for the test against site?

Quote:
Site:
http://www.myspace.com/
Keywords:
Reviewd by TRUSTe

Site:
https://www.google.com/accounts/Serv...=true&rm=false
Keywords:
Program Policies

Site:
http://login.passport.net/uilogin.srf?lc=3081&id=2
Keywords:
Microsoft Passport Network symbol
when i was checking out the sites i was noticing they where all on
Code:
 <title> </title>
when i tested it i put . http://myspace.com/ , Keyword,
Code:
<Title>MySpace.com</title>
and i liked how you explained it btw. , so i was wondering for future reference how would i be able to put good keywords when testing against a specific site as you put it ex: myspace and reviewd by trustE

Well the key is to find unique data in the source of the page ('View > Source' in Internet Explorer). Think of it this way, if the site is myspace.com and the keyword is myspace.com then if the Proxy returned an error like:

Sorry, we cannot contact myspace.com at this point in time.

You would have a problem as your keyword would still be found, and you would get an invalid result. The trick is to go into the source of the page and find a short string which wont change on you to scan for. A couple to mention are as follows:

coolNewPeople
fuseaction
et="_blank">Promote
ss="more">[more music]

As you can see, it would be very unlikely for that data to change, and for a Proxy to accidentally return it unless it managed to contact the site. The keywords I selected in the examples are all what I deem most unlikely to change, and the most unique.

Thats quite normal, especially considering your timeout is very low. Jack it up a bit and look for 'Good' results. If it still doesnt work I will check it for you.

There are a bunch of them in the Program Setup section. Try a few more out, if you still cant get it to work I will test and makeup a config for you to try.

Try the inbuild scanner in Sentry, it works overly well with Keyword testing.
