Default My ip has a mind of it's own.

My real ip address has been changing between 3 different ip numbers lately.
I'm intrigued by this, I thought broadband ip addresses where supposed to be static ( I have a dsl connection). That's not the strange thing however , for some reason when my real ip switches to one of the certain 3 ip addresses it is much faster!

If anybody on this forum has any insight as to why this might happen, or any useful information about this situation , give me a reply.

This forum is like a breath of fresh air, keep up the good work.

Eh.

Broadband is not necessarily static, infact in one country I will not mention there is a 95% chance you have a dynamic IP even if you are on DSL. Some ISP's will change more to have a static IP and avoid them because they make it easier for their users to host websites, and also disallows the ISP to make massive network changes as easily.

As far as your IP becoming faster each time you are moved, this may because you are being moved between diferent usage blocks. Your IP block may reflect a diferent level of bandwidth usage by users on your ISP.

What country are you refering to?

Thanks for the reply Insomniac, but I don't understand what you mean in this section of your post.

Let me rephrase:

Some ISP's will charge more to have a static IP and avoid them because they make it easier for their users to host websites and other services, and also disallows the ISP to make massive network changes as easily.
