Close all open browser windows, then open a single browser, then set the browser settings as demonstrated in this link:

http://www.proxy-server.info/set-pro...explorer.shtml

Then close the browser, open it again and visit www.whatismyip.com

Not at all. You are continously connecting to sites on Port 80 for the HTTP Protocol so there is no reason why you should not be able to access a Proxy which runs on Port 80.

I thought I'd look through some of the q&a's posted before I posted a repiticious question. It looks like ipung's question is very similar if not the same as mine but the answer given isn't what I would like to know. When I compile a big list of proxies I always retest the anonimity before I use them. I use the working proxy judges found here in this forum and I check them before every test. So here's my problem....no matter what program or proxy judge I use or any combination of the two(and I've tried a lot!) I've never had aa anonymous hit for any of the proxies ending with port 80. With the big lists I compile it seems like I should save my time and delete the port 80 proxies before I test them. So far I've had good results with most other proxies but if you could help me figure this problem out I would be really happy! Here's a crude example...

What am I doing wrong that always makes the highlighted proxies show up as non-anon? :?:

That does sound quite strange, and illogical for that matter. Could you please give a brief rundown of your settings for one run, and kindly provide a screenshot of the program in question informing you that it is not anonymous please, At this point I am presuming it is something to do with your network settings, or your ISP.

I just manually tested a number of those Proxies to make sure they are reporting correctly, and thankfully they are. At this point I beleive your ISP (or Firewall if you are in a Corporate location) is auto caching Port 80 requests. The theory behind this is like this:

1) Your computer makes a request to a website on Port 80.

2) The Internal Firewall of the ISP picks up the connection and redirects it through a Caching Proxy Server.

3) The Caching Proxy Server picks up the request which is like this:

GET http://www.site.com/stuff/prxjdg.cgi HTTP/1.0

4) Instead of connecting to the Proxy to forward the request, it simply resolves the www.site.com and directly connects.

As a result the request comes from the IP of the Caching Proxy Server instead of your own. Since Charon also resolves your IP from a Port 80 request aswell, it is also likely that other results are giving false Anons.

Although this isnt the definate answer, it is the most logical, and a situation I have run into once or twice before.

To verify this, could you please manually resolve a direct request to an AZEnv Judge, and then resolve a manual request via a Port 80 Proxy. Please paste the entire source of the page like the example below:

http://test.anonproxies.com/azenv.php

====================================

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN"
"http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xml:lang="en" lang="en">
<head>
<title>AZ Environment variables 1.04</title>
</head>
<body>
<pre>
HTTP_ACCEPT = */*
HTTP_REFERER = http://www.digitalcybersoft.com/Prox...ges-vt221.html
HTTP_ACCEPT_LANGUAGE = en-us
HTTP_ACCEPT_ENCODING = gzip, deflate
HTTP_USER_AGENT = Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.0; .NET CLR 2.0.40607; .NET CLR 1.1.4322)
HTTP_HOST = test.anonproxies.com
HTTP_CONNECTION = Keep-Alive
REMOTE_ADDR = 202.116.15.4
REMOTE_PORT = 2989
REQUEST_METHOD = GET
REQUEST_URI = /azenv.php
</pre>
</body>
</html>

====================================

Hopefully we should be able to resolve the exact problem for you after this.
