Just wanted to say thanks for taking the time to read my question, sorry I am new to all of this stuff, don't know much at all. I have been spending several hours each night reading as much as I can for the past week. Just had a few questions...

I am using a custom program that I had someone make for me and I was wondering how I can make it connect through a proxy if it doesn't allow the settings to be inputted without having any changes made to the program.

If I have my programmer add the proxy server input option in the settings, is there anyway I can test on my own if the program is really using the proxy server and not my real IP?

Also, what would be the best way to mask my identity. I was reading about elite proxy servers, but then someone mentioned VPNs to me. Which would you recommend? I need something relatively quick and I have no problem paying a monthly fee, I just want to be anonymous. Also, is there a better option then the two I mentioned above?
