Default Newbie:can't connect...pls help

Hi

I have download about 6 softwares that handle proxy...
well...
?)i have change the LAN setting to "localhost" and port to "9095" is this ok?
or do i need to change it each time i use a different server... if so... do i need to change in IE6 the LAN setting To the Server, from the server list?

if not and localhost and port 9095 is good, why cant i connect to the proxy server from the proxy softwate?
it says that the proxy server is ok so i dont understand why i cant log in....

Thanks ALot!!!

You said you have tried six peices of software. This means that every peice of software would use a diferent local port. You need to work out which port you need for the software you want.

You could do that aswell.

Also instead of using localhost, try just 127.0.0.1
