Default I've read the FAQ, gone to multiple sites, tried...

and am now officially pulling my hair out.

I am wanting to bypass my work computers firewall, as I am a 3rd shift employee (10p-7a) and spend much of my nights bored and wanting to chat with my husband. I don't care to do a lot of surfing, but would enjoy being able to check my mail, chat via aim express, etc.

I've attempted to bypass by entering a proxy ip in "LAN settings", but I get a DNS failure message.

I also have to wrestle with the automatic configuration script. when i uncheck the box, i can no longer connect to my intranet- which i still need to be able to do.

I don't have the ability to ssh tunnel, as the administrator has changed settings for executables. Therefore, I can't install any software to assist in the tunneling process.

Is there a way for me to get around this killer firewall/administrator combo, or am I destined to many lonely nights?

Thanks in advance

The use of HTTPort correctly would bypass the issue. Irrelevent of whatever the Administrator has setup, there is always ways to put new programs onto a machine. It all really depends on the machines setup and the businesses IT infastructure.

ok, i will give that a try. I will have to search some specifics on how to make it run correctly, as I am unable to access any assistance while at work. hopefully I will get it to run without much problem. thanks again.

I too have tried all of these sources, but have yet to find a solution. My company has Surf Control's Super Scout. They also have software installed which does not allow you to install a program, although I do have the ability to do this. They also have security settings that are re-installed everytime you log on. I cannot make changes to my internet settings. Any suggestions for bypassing this software? From what I can tell this is one of the more difficult to get around.

All of these situations are basically similar to that of a Cyber Cafe. So Google for guides to defeating Cyber Cafe's. There are a couple of good ones out there which I will not reference.

I got past it for 1 day... then my workplace started with Surf Control. I will definately look into the Cyber Cafe option.

Surf Control is very lame. My experiences with it quickly destroyed its existence.
