Default Charon and other programs.

I know that this is going to annoy someone but most of the tutorials i read assume a level of knowledge. Until 5 days ago i had no idea what any of this was. Guys i am trying but i need a foothold so i can at least build on something i can see work and why it works. When i google it no matter whether i use advanced search options or not the list i get back is unmanagable!

So charon. ok i copy some of the anon http proxies here and run them through charon and more often than not i may get 2 or 3 that work if i am lucky.

I understand what a proxy is now and what it does. I understand what a proxy judge is (i think) and what it does but where do you get those from?

I understand what an IP range is but how do you decide what ranges to search, is there some black book somewhere with a list of "good ranges"?

Ok shout at me now and call me some names but at 41 i have probabley been called worse.

Oh and to the ones that answer or at least point me thanks i just want some simple instructions. You know for instance ig teaching someone to read OPEN THE BOOK. it may just go into my thick skull then! And if you speak to me like a 2 year old i will not take offence i realise this must get repetetive.

At your current level searching for proxies is probably a little more than what you wan't to step into at the moment. Just get used to retesting other peoples lists for the timebeing.

Proxy judges are setup by various people, they normally get posted to various diferent places (like this forum), there is really no point in concerning yourself with finding 'fresh' ones as they generally don't make much diference. For reference a Proxy judge is basically the same as an AZEnv.

In Charon slow down your checks, run less threads, and you should get better results.

Point taken just getting frustrated at my lack of progress as i am normally quite quick on the uptake but for some reason this is taking me time to get my head round.

oh and AZEnv?

AZEnv is kind of like an evolved Proxy judge. Originally the Proxy judge was made to be easily formatted so humans could tell if a Proxy was anonymous or not. Later people realised the human side was unimportant and stripped it down to it's essentials.

Yeah, that's about right, higher numbers can be acheived, but it all depends on what you want the proxies for.

At the moment i am happy just testing them and getting some realistic results at last.

What i would like to do at some point is learn how to use them to initially just surf anonymously i'm sure there are other uses some malicious some not. For me its more of an interest in how things work and why. Sad i know but i like to know how what i am using works, and i tend to jump in at the deep end!

But onto the next step can Charon scan for proxies or do i need something else. I have tried the leech function and it says storing Proxies but they never appear anywhere.

I have also tried to use the secrh function in access diver and it does find them and store them but thats when i put in a very small range that i know has a working proxy in it!

Am i on the right track or am i miles wide where i need to be?

My ultimate aim is to try and contribute something here, a small thing for a lot of you but for me would be an achievement! The sooner i can do that the happier i will be.

Thanks for the help thus far and the patience it is appreciated.

My help instantly stops as soon as the word leech is mentioned. I'm having a hard enough time at this point keeping up with leechers hammering this server, so I prefer not to 'help the problem'.

Point taken leeching stops now. If i had taken the time to think what the dictionary definition of the word is i could have worked that one out for myself. Apologies.

Was just an option in charon and wondered what it did i guess i know now.

So what about scanning?

Scanning is very much just a case of patience. Most people just don't want to leave a computer online long enough to find some results. Most people use Proxy Hunter to scan for Proxies.
