Default Do Computers only have 1 IP #?

Do computers only have 1 IP #?

Also, My computer i use cable for internet... does the IP # always stay the same unless i use a proxy?

Most home computers only have 1 IP address. You will have more than 1 IP address if you have more than 1 network adapter or if you set your network adapter to listen on more than 1 IP. This is not recommended if you are not sure what you are doing.

Depends a lot on your cable provider. in many cases you will keep the same WAN IP address, (depends a lot on how your ISP has their DHCP server setup). In extreme cases I have heard that if you leave your modem off for a week or so, you may draw a different IP address from the pool.

Computers have Local IP.... and another one I just forgot the name. The local IP don't change it stays the same. The other IP does change. My IP has changed many times through itself. I think cable only has one IP. I'm on DSL and it changes.

localhost - 127.0.0.1 but that IP is not routable....
