Default Question

Hello! well, i'm a total newbie to computers and I wanted to see if anyone can help me with my quest.

I'm trying to acces a website from Russia but I can't access because it says only people living in Russia are allowed access to it.. it's basically an ftp server.

So my question is if there's any way i can have access to it? I understand proxies are meant to do that? or am I mistaken? ops:

Thanks for any help!!

Russian proxies are reasonably rare. If you check the main list on this site you might find he occasional one pop up.

Hide My IP generally works fine. If you email Brett he should be able to fix that for you.

The thing you have to realise if the site want's a Russian IP, then that's what you need to give it. Using any other ountry is pointless.

hi Imsomniac.. thank you for ur replies.. i have another question now.
I finally found one russian i.p. (that works!) .. but now my problem is ... when I go online.. and do a search on my i.p. to see that it actually shows the russian i.p., it says that.. it says.. your i.p. address is ...(the russian one) .. but then it says.. "and this is forwarded to ..... (the original i.p.) .. some websites don't even bother about the russian i.p., they detect the original one and that's the one they list as my i.p. address.

Isn't my original i.p. supposed to be hidden? the russian website that i go to also tells me that. it says "error.. ur i.p. is.... " and it lists my original canadian i.p. .. am I doing something wrong?

You are using what is called a Transparent Proxy. This however doesn't really matter in most situations, the end website is unlikely to know otherwise.
