Default Leechers

I, myself grow tired of leechers, they just come here to say "thanks for the great effort and hard work!" and all THEY have to do is copy+paste; while WE (people that hunt the proxies) spend hours of our lives doing this just to post it on a forum because we are nice. SHOW SOME RESPECT! We do this for free, hours of being bored and posting all our results for it just to be leaked by leechers. Guys, at least contribute. I think there should be a new rule for anon proxie forum; 20+ posts, and/or at least 3 proxy lists contribution. This is just my view on this. Feel free to post your views.

I can't really agree with this actually.
I used to regularly post my work (not proxies, since I don't know how to get them myself) on other kinds of boards to share with people. I resigned from this, but it was not because of leechers at all. Actually leechers never really bothered me.
I think that even though 95% of the people who view posts never reply, the posters should share for the love of sharing. That's what makes a real contrubutor. He/she shouldn't care how the viewers act. Posting is all that matters.
Also, I don't consider people who reply with "thanks" as leechers. Leechers are those who view posts, but don't reply at all. They take, but do not give. Someone who thanks posters but don't/can't post their own proxies is not a leecher.
I don't think it's fair to ask for lists or contributions. I would assume that most people here don't know a thing about proxy-hunting, and even though they may want to share, they can't, or other things may be preventing them. It's not fair to penalize people who don't have the same skills as the posters.

This is a very touchy subject. I have had some very different views on the situation from some respectabely skilled people. Some insist on atleast 50% response rates, other like myself aren't worried if people respond at all, and some people insist that it is completely unnecessary and people shouldn't respond unless it is to give advice on the list quality. So for that I think a mid point should be drawn where people are thanked and also supported to improve their lists.

Just one thoght, most people do not know how to get proxies. Up till this week I didn't know, I couldn't figure it out. There is no tutorial, or any real place to goto figure it out. Now I know how, but still don't have a complete understanding of it, and can only find about 30 proxies a day. Mabey if we worked up a thread telling people how they can get proxies, they will post.

I support the idea that everyone who views a post should reply to it, to thank the poster.

But I have one question. I was told by people that it was kinda dangerous to search for proxies, since ISPs don't allow that. I always thought ISPs could ban you for this. That's one reason I never hunted before. Is this true?
If it's safe, with no risk getting caught, I would learn to proxy-hunt so I can contribute.

honestly.. I don't think people should worry too much about "leechers" ..
the term really had it's ground roots in the warez world where people essentally stole posts from one place and posted it at another (kinda stealing),, nowadays.. it's really considered more sharing.. look.. each of us might have skills that another may not have. I look at things as that information / knowledge should be freely shared. If you want to boost membership participation, there are other ways to encourage that participation rather than generating bad vibes. sure.. (as mentioned in another thread) we could have another section that only certain members could view.. I don't oppose that at all.. but the key thing is that information (some) should be freely shared and that the post person should learn to have good feelings about that fact that they helped out.. regardless of not getting a "thank you".. we don't need to be into power tripping.. I believe in the karmic circle.. what goes around , comes around..

now asmithz brought up a good point.. it wouldn't hurt to have a few tutorials on how things get done..

and bling dogg01 brought up a point that I'd like to discuss further as I do know that port scanning is not a good thing as far as isp's go.. and isn't scanning for proxies pretty much the same thing as port scanning ?

I will come out with this.. I know it's not fast/great or anything but..
I was once a "dunner" .. had access to backdoor dialup accounts, made free dialup accounts bypassing the free isp's software.. disposable accounts.. I don't think I can share this information openly.. but I'd be willing to help out anyone that would like to investigate it.. by pm.. if it's ok with Insomniac.

this unfortunately is for USA residents only.. as the isps are USA ones..

About the tutorials part, Ill be happy to post a Tutorial on getting proxies by Proxy Hunter and Charon and other ways, look for it in the tutorials section of the site. Or just google "Proxy Hunter tutorial" and,or "Charon proxy gathering" both will give good results.

when i first came here a year ago, I straight up told Insomniac that I was copying and pasting his lists to my site. I also donated $15 to him for the use of those lists. I have every bit of respect for people that reward others for their skilled work that I dont have time for.

I see that many of you make valid points and that while I still visit and take lists occaisionally, ive been willing to contribute here and there to keep people's spirit up

Default leechers?

 I dunno if ya can expect people NOT to take lists of anything, be it tossed yahoo id's, proxies, etc. If its there, someones gonna take it. Thats just human nature. I think the real issue is if its "tossed", its tossed...just that...tossed so people can take whatever is tossed. I toss cause I dont wanna throw lists in my recycle bin that someone might be able to use...i don't try to find out where my tosses are going or how they're being used...not my business.
Thats just my opinion, but be glad your lists are finding use to someone...your works not in vain then.
