Default Hi all. It's good to be here. Who is Lorissa?

Hi Folks,

It's good to be here. I've been around computers for a very long time, have worked for INTEL, played a bit at NASA in Houston, do private consulting, am a MCSE--even though M$ isn't my favorite.
In fact for my final exam for Networking, all the other test I scored 90% or better on the 1st go around, I read a question that I knew the answer MS wanted and I Knew the "real-world" solution. My desire to answer in what happens in the real world versus what MS would have us believe, took hold, I answered the question correctly, but it was wrong for the sake of the test. I had hoped it wouldn't be, but felt that I'd be marked wrong and I was.
Later, I found out if you pass all the tests for a cert, the 1st time with 90% or better, MS puts you on their "good" list. Oh well, too bad, ethics won over promoting products.

I hope I'll be able to contribute to the community. We can all share and learn.

However, I've had run-ins already with Lorissa.

Who is this person? I've been sent what I consider to be "flamming" IMs telling me that my "thanks" are being deleted, they are not wanted and don't do it again, or else.

I IMed back, to ask for help in understanding, such an attack upon me. Especially, since I thought I was following the rules and I thought offering sincere "thanks" would be welcome.

Instead, it brought another IM, telling me the same thing, that what I am doing is not welcome and that my earnest attempt to thank three people is being deleted. And it wasn't said in a kind way as to instructions on what the problem is, but only with such a haughty response that is appalling.

Looking at other posts (I must have picked just the right ones) I saw the same kind of thing. People asking for help, but instead, being condesendingly admonished by Lorissa. It makes me angry that a person is so rude to those who are seeking help.

In one instanse, someone said he was trying to comply with Lorissa's instructions, only to be answered with words, "Did you even bother to read..." Was such a snide remark necessary? It certainly did no good, except perhaps give Lorissa an unhealthy feeling of power.

--what kind of tone of speech is that? The use of "did you 'even'"--shows great disrespect for the person who is being communicated with. they did not deserve such treatment. Couldn't "did you even," have been changed to "were you able?" I ask, why the put-down?

The next thread, I happened upon again found Lorissa using unkindness instead of helpfullness. With the words in answer to a legitimate question: :Rather than me wasting time explaining..."

When is it a waste of time to take a second or two to help? Even if you don't have the time, it can be better said, ,than to tell someone that spending your time with is a waste.

Does Lorissa get a kick out of choosing words that most human beings would see as being rude? If you don't have the time to be kind, I feel sorry for you. How long would it have taken to have said instead of "rather than [M]e waste [M]y time...", which seems that you are saying your time is worth more than someone elses, you could have said, "make sure you have read this/that and let me refer you to..." Telling someone that taking a minute with them is a waste, seems to be the epitome of arrogance.

Do you really believe that you are more important than others? I thought all humans have equal worth. And when we can help one another tha is a chance to do good. If we can't help, then there is still a chance to do good by how we explain that we are unable to help at that moment--not that spending time is a "waste."

I dare say, my IQ is higher than most. It is above 140. Does that make me better than anyone else? Of course not.

All it means is that according to tests, I have a gift to be able to learn more quickly than most, but it has nothing to do with my worth as a human being over that of another. We are the same--of equal value--priceless. Why not treat all you come into contact with as such? Even the worst mistakes made are just that--mistakes. Human beings make mistakes as well as rights.

Don't you know that your time is no more valuable than my time or anyone else's? We are all human and although we have different backgrounds, deserve to be treated with out placing ourself above another.

I do not like, by your snide email and then equally haughty response, especially as a new memeber trying to learn the rules of this forum, the way I have been treated by you. I feel that the other people to whom you rudely wrote, did not appreciate that kind of help. Help, which had no kindness in it.

Lorissa, can you match my IQ of above 140? Does being "smarter," mean anything in human terms? Only some one with greatly misplaced pride, I believe, would think so.

As a team leader at INTEL, what kind of leader would I have been if I told those with whom I worked, that trying to help them was a waste of my time or used condesending terms such as "haven't you even..."

So, who is this Larissa, who is so rude? The next question would then be, why?

I hope that others are not assualted as I feel I have been. And instead, will well-come me to the group as a friend to be made and someone who wants to share and learn and be able to expresses my appreciation for what you know, want to know and for the help you give. And in return, I can, with kindness, help you. We are all humans on this world, together, with no one, above another. I hope that "rudeness" is not a word in my vocalublary as a fellow, man or woman, human being.

My response to this will be brief. Regardless of whether you feel wronged or not by Lorissa she has decided to resign from being a Moderator here. Therefore the past is in the past and there is no point in whinging about it.

Secondly, please don't waste my time attempting to 'name drop'. I and many other people here really dont care if you have done work for Intel (notice I didn't have to use caps). I have personally done work for far larger companies and don't feel it necessary to inform anyone of them to prove a point. Your respect here is not measured by what you have done outside of the industry but what you ahve done within it.

If you are wondering why this has a harsh tone to it, that is because you did not take the time to look around and observe that Lorissa has resigned. If you did notice then I personally feel it is very cheap and low to start insulting someone who can no longer defend themselves the same way as in the past. A better man would take a hit and not feel so offended by it.

For anyone else reading this, please note, this forum will now be run the way it was originally run by me, no exceptions.

Some of this is true, but what Insomniac said is right. Here's what happened to Lorissa, a former moderator:
