Default Browsing help needed

I am hoping someone here can help as this site was recommended to me by a friend. I am in the Middle East and as you may know a number of sites are blocked for various reasons here. I understand that there are way around this by using proxy servers. I have been trying to get information on this but most proxy sites that give information are also blocked so i cannot access them. Can someone give me an idea of how i can bypass the blocked sites and what site or software i can use.

Years back there used to be a site that you can put your url inside a site and be able to browse the web and no one would know what site you were visiting. Does anyone know the name of the site.

Any help here would be appreciated as i have got tired of constantly writing to the ISP (the ONLY one in the country) asking them to unblock simple sites like expatriates.com which they have blocked.

Thanks
Qrazy

Hi there, I have had a bit of experience over time with your problem, and personally I highly disagree with what they do.

Anyway, for information on using Proxy servers you can refer to this sites partner site www.proxy-server.info It contains a nice little guide to using them and what all the diferent terminology means. Please note that in your situation a Transparent Proxy is just as useful as an Anonymous one.

There are a number of sites which run a service similar to what you are refering to. Infact I will personally have my own one up quite soon to perform the task. These sites are called CGI Proxies, the oldest used service used to be Anonymizer, but that has turned to crap now. I would recommmend trying out a site like www.proxify.us If you come back here in a month or two I should have my own CGI Proxy site up and running for people to use
