Default Leona Lewis - "Run"

I simply have to share a link to this video with you.

It's Leona Lewis' cover of Snow Patrol's song Run performed on The X Factor's results show 11-15-08 and to be quite honest with you it overwhelms me and brings tears to my eyes. I hope you enjoy it.

Thanks Lorissa.

Being a classical musician, this isn't the style of singing I'm used to--although I have done a PBS program with the smoke and backup and all that. So, I was especially interested to see/hear how she'd handle this.

She gets an A_+

This is the 1st time (I gave it 3 listens) for me to hear the song and the performer.

She does an excellent job. I wish I could have made out all the words.

I was impressed by the professionalism. All parts of the perfromance (staging, lighting, backup) went together, well, to showcase not the "show," but her and the song.

It is nice to see a stage that is set for the music and artist--instead of where there are a bunch of people who jump around, and distract from the soul of the music. --In some cases though, those pieces have not much music there. In this performance though, the music was good. I was impressed. Very, very nice.

Here, she was the focus, which is as it should be & it was lovely.

Her head voice needs a bit of work, but the slipping in and out of it, shows she knows it's there and can use it for effect. I think I even heard a b-flat 6.

Her nerves didn't show, but her heart being in the song, did. It was a wonderful job.

She did an excellent job of handling the stage smoke--that stuff makes singing, quite difficult. She overcame it perfectly.

Obviously, she has fans in the audience.

Her stage presence is not that of a "tennie bopper," trying to pull something out of the hat for MTV; but that of a woman, singing from her heart.

And even though I couldn't get all the words, the heart, her heart in the music, came across. Thanks for the url.

Bob

Yeah, I first saw Lorna Lewis on the Jay Leno Late Nite Show, of all places. She litterly blew me away with her vocal talents. I think, of all people, "The King Of Mean" Simon Cowl interoduced her to America. That girl has one "Set Of Pipes"!! Yeah, Boyeeeeee!!!! Kudos for your post!!!
